Hellfire nor Brimstone (Hicktown)

Don’t need hellfire, nor brimstone, today
Giving it back – so take it away
Did me no good, and wasn’t much use
So here you go. Thanks anyway.

Don’t need small-town opinions right now
It’s amazing what fear can allow
Did me no good, these forms of abuse
So take ‘em back any old how.

Is it any surprise I grew up
Looking sickly and feeling frakked up
Took me this long to work out the truth –
That it’s your fears that I’m giving up

Turn the stones and draw fish in the sand
This goes out to the woman or man
Who grew up in hick town – any millstone or noose
Moving on now as best as they can.

All that hellfire and brimstone was theirs
It’s much better just left in their cares
Did you no good – and it wasn’t much use
So returning it simply sounds fair.

Don’t need hellfire, nor brimstone, today
Giving it back – so take it away
Did me no good, and wasn’t much use
So here you go. Thanks anyway.
